The Town of North Greenbush is seeking a qualified and experienced legal professional to fill the vacancy for the position of Town Attorney. The Town Attorney acts as the primary legal counsel to the Town Supervisor, Town Board, and various municipal departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Municipal Counsel: Advise the Town Board and town officials on New York State municipal law, local ordinances, and compliance.
- Meeting Attendance: Attend all Town Board meetings, public hearings, and executive sessions to provide real-time legal guidance.
- Document Management: Draft and review local laws, town resolutions, procurement contracts, and dedication documents.
- Operations Support: Support the town infrastructure, including handling legal compliance regarding human resources, payroll processes, and capital projects.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Licensure: Admission to the Bar of the State of New York in good standing.
- Core Competencies: Thorough knowledge of NYS municipal laws, strong communication skills, a high degree of integrity, and sound professional judgment.
- Experience: Prior experience handling legal matters for towns or municipalities is highly preferred.
